hey everyone,
I thought it would be fun to tell you a little bit about the making of bang your head which will be released december 17th on Kinetika records as the Re-issue “Some more Banging” including a new club mix, a new mix down of the original and two unreleased tracks “we want the world” and “Getaway”, the first being a loud rave banger, the second a laidback chillout track to close the new EP nicely. The Original “Bang your head” ep which you can still get on pretty much all the digital resailers as Itunes, Juno and Beatport includes remixes by Clockwork, Dirty Disco Youth and Per Qx did so well (Juno/Beatport top 10 electrohouse charts) we decided for this new release and actually make my first ever Official video.
So how did this track started. I was actually just learning how to pitch sounds and learning my way around a great vst Synth when i started putting notes next top eachother and noticed that overlapping those sounds works really well for me. Thats how the main riff came to be. WHen you have that happening it was clear to me it would be a loud track trying to get the drums to sound dry and still in your face, finding the right snaredrum was actually the thing then.
I started playing that version and it immediatly worked, i remember playing it at WATT Rotterdam, opening for Bloody Beetroots and while it wasnt even out it really did make people dance more to it then some known songs i was playing before it which made me feel i have something here. I just wanted vocals on it. They often work for people and i felt it could really make it bigger.
Sitting at Eat at Joe’s, the Restaurant/cafe i was sitting a lot and know the people was almost closed as i remember feeling I wanted to do vocals as fast as possible. The lovely Liselore said that they almost closed and i should do it there. When no one was in there anymore i opened up my macbook with the files, put it on the bar , headphones on and screamed. Liselore, who was there as was her BF, which i have known for more then ten years (from the punkrock days) screamed once just for fun and i thought she did so well why not record it….next thing she’s in the mix
So the track is released, does really great and im thinking how cool would it be to do a video and go big with it. Jerry (the guy i was just talking about) works for TV and knows people at the right places, so i asked him if he could help me with this and he pretty much said yes imediatly. He put of group of talented people together so we could started get going.
My idea was pretty intense which you will see soon ofcourse. We needed a Model and after the one is asked for cancelled just for days before the shoot i happened to see a picture of an aquentance of mine and imediatly thought that that was the vibe i was looking for, fierce, sweet, but brutal. Just wait till you see the video, youll know what im talking about!
anyway, hope you liked a bit of inside story. I want to take this blog to thank Jerry, Ruud, Daan, Danitsja, Lorena and Stephan for making this video happen, Liselore for Screaming and generally being a funny person and George at Kinetika Records for being my buddy from the start!
p.s : In the end you will see some blood. Although Lorena was shy in the beginning of shooting she actually hit my nose so hard it started bleeding lol. and offcourse the guys said “keep rolling, robert don’t laugh” while Lorena was saying sorry over and over and over and over ….

Some more banging, out december 17th on Kinetika
